I don't know how old I was at the time or what time of year it was. I don't even remember if it was cool enough outside for the windows to be rolled up. I only remember that it was late and it was a starless night.
We were on our way home and about two blocks from our street when I happened to catch a glimpse of a movement in the sky through the front windshield. It all appeared to happen in super slow motion. One minute I was driving and the next minute I could see something white approach the car from above in a slow and mesmerizing sweep. I couldn't tell what it was. I thought it was a bird because its wings were long, lovely and breathtakingly white. I could feel goose bumps rise on my arms and could feel my heart skip a beat. It felt as if everything but it had ceased to move.
It was on a slow and flowing descent and the closer it got the less I thought that it was a bird. I could tell it wasn't flying at an angle. It seemed to be flying straight down and that's when my heart really started beating faster. My brain went into overdrive trying to place the animal. The closer it got the harder the brain worked. Only, it couldn't wrap around the fact that although the wings were truly gorgeous and glowing, there were no claws, talons, bird feet. It was footless and more distressing was the fact that legs were visible through a brilliantly white cloak. Well that and the fact that when I allowed my gaze to move upward, I saw what appeared to be an owl/human face. It was then that I slammed on the breaks and silently gaped as it soared straight up and was swallowed by the night.
It was at that moment that the brain informed me that it was a sign. A sign of sickness or death. It reminded me that a few months before my aunt and mother had told us of a bird/human that had flown out at them as they drove to Mexico to see my hospitalized grandmother. She had died before they returned to the states. I had scoffed at the story even though it gave me goose bumps.
I can't remember the face in great detail other than it was completely white from top to bottom and it was large. As in the wing-span was larger than my windshield. That I remember clearly. I have only ever told this to one person and it appears that I have blocked most of the details from memory. I don't remember anyone dying or becoming sick around that time, but that doesn't mean that it didn't happen. I probably just didn't put the two together. I'm sure I tried to bury it.
I never saw it again and would have thought it all a dream had the passenger in my car not seen the exact same thing and begun to scream at the exact same moment as I.
By the way, this blog was inspired by a book I am about to read. It's about a former member of the U.S. armed forces who saw an object fly out of the ocean and into the sky while on "duty". The book is called "BEHOLD A PALE HORSE" by Milton William Cooper. Today, he'd be labeled crazy or one of those flying saucer fools. Perhaps that is why I've waited over 10 years to share this. Label me if you'd like. I'm only telling you what I saw.
